On the label x JB BB Cream

On the label x JB BB Cream

In the beauty world, it’s easy to get caught up in a sea of dreamy marketing spiel. Swimming continuous waves of promises like eternal youth and luminesce. At Joyce Blok, our only interests lie in what works; maybe it’s because we’re a hardworking Kiwi brand with true kiwi values, or maybe it’s because we’re crazy about skincare! In fewer words, we’re fascinated by what makes skincare tick.

In this week’s ‘on the label’ we’re sharing two of the most exciting ingredients that feature in our BB Cream SPF30. A multi-tasking product which encompasses the best of science and nature as it evens skin tone, hydrates, soothes and nourishes, protects and offers a luminous complexion.

  • Kakadu Plum – Kakadu Plum, native to Australia, was used historically by Aboriginal people for its healing properties. With protection and repair from the elements front and center of its game, it comes as little wonder. Kakadu Plum contains gallic acid, a natural nutrient and phenolic acid that works as an antioxidant protecting against free radical damage. A serious vitamin C enriched super fruit; it can help skin recover and reduce redness caused by sun exposure or inflammatory skin disorders. Fun fact – “Kakadu plum contains up to 75 times more vitamin C than an orange, so if it’s the anti-ageing benefits of Vitamin C you’re after, you might want to consider Kakadu as an alternative.
  • Niacinamide – relatively new on the scene, Niacinamide is one of skincare’s latest buzzwords, but this is one we’re fully behind. Niacinamide is a form of vitamin B3 and we could write a whole On the Label feature on Niacinamide itself (and in fact we might, watch this space!). Some of its many benefits include; repair, hydration and brightening. It also increases the production of ceramides (lipids that help maintain the skin’s protective barrier - the skins first line of defence), meaning a reduction in the impact of environmental damage.
